Engineering Projects
Throughout my software engineering career, I have worked in a variety of capacities from support, to administration, to development, to quality assurance. I have worked for both hardware (Apple Computer) and software companies (Pervasive Software/ Btrieve Technologies). Some of the start-ups I have worked for (SMART Technologies and WhisperWire) were acquired by much larger companies (i2 and Convergys). Currently, I work as a Senior Manager for Convergys in Cambridge, UK as part of the Core Development organization. I own development and testing for the PowerSeller product. My team is also responsible for the Rating and Billing Template Care API EJB integration framework. I manage engineers in the US, the UK, and India. We follow an iterative waterfall methodology and are audited yearly for ISO 9001 and CMM Level 3 certification. I have been managing engineering teams for the last seven years. I have worked in environments using Agile/ Scrum, RUP, Spiral, and Waterfall software development lifecycle methodologies. Coming from a technical background, I follow a hands-on management style with outward regular communication (both at the customer and at the executive level). I have programmed web and native operating system applications in Java, ObjectiveC, Object Pascal, PowerScript, and Visual Basic. The web technologies I have worked with are HTML, JavaScript, Active Server Pages, Java Servlets, Java Server Pages, EJB, Corba and WebObjects. Since most of my work is considered intellectual property belonging to past and present employers, this section includes my resume and generic notes that can be helpful to new developers. Resume Below is my resume in Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF Format:
Some of the public sites I have worked on include:
Web Development With these web applications, the projects produced artifacts around requirements, design, coding standards, GUI style guides, test matrixes, and release checklist/ sign-off. Generic samples can be found under my application and development area or by looking at the tool/ technology providers (like Rational, Sun, Borland..) or by checking out various engineering collaboration sites (like Sticky Minds and IEEE Working Groups). Like with most engineering projects, developers are exposed to a variety of operational equipment and services. Most of the repetitive questions and failures around such areas can be captured for staff to reference rather than reinventing the wheel each time. With the likes of Google and Yahoo, finding solutions to failures has become easier. When one has a proprietary API, providing an internal searchable system (like a WIKI or KnowledgeBase) is needed. In my system administration section, I have a collection of scripts and notes for running Oracle and open source services on Solaris. |
